092: bachelorettes

This weekend, I went to my first bachelorette party! My cousin's getting married in 3 weeks & all us 'single ladies' were invited for a nice dinner & then dancing and bottle service at a nice lounge in the distillery district. I say "nice"... but I mean, we had 2 bottles of vodka, a bottle of rum & a bottle of champagne so things got less classy in our little booth. Things like this happened, which is embarrassing.... but I guess it isn't THAT embarrassing since I'm posting it. hhah



I find that going for a night out of drinking always requires so many "solutions". Like, for my uncomfortably high dancing shoes, I'm always packing a pair of flats in my purse just in case I feel like a quitter. & with my little bustier top this weekend, I used double-sided tape for the first time to avoid any nip-slips! (whaaat!) & sometimes we creatively bring our alcohol on public transit in 'travelers'. What kind of tips & tricks do you employ for your nights out?!

How hilarious is it that we try to be responsible & prepared for a night of being totally irresponsible and reckless? HA.

091: thrifty

Silly me, I used to go thrift shopping & look for current trends. I remember seeing "mainstream" trends in stores & going to thrift shops hoping to find versions of them for cheaper. Now that I look back, I was trying to find things that would help me to fit in, instead of seeking out those strange items that make you stand out!

Do you go thrift shopping with specific intentions or certain looks in mind? I always go in remembering not to worry about size or shape (which can be altered) but to look out for fabrics, textures & colours.

This past week, I found this patterned sweater dress in the size 12/14 section of dresses. It's kinda like a giant v-neck muumuu, but with a belt it's a pretty sweet dress, I think. Thank you plus-size lady for your former sweater. The colours are sick.

ps, my gal Renee has just started a blog for her photography! She's just getting started as a lifestyle photographer so we got together in a coffee shop & trucked away at establishing her home on the internet. There's still a lot of work to go but she's got the backbone in place & is going to be populating it all soon. I'll keep you guys updated so you can check out her work :)
