The Herve Leger Show was probably one of the higher profile designer shows we've been to, and it was quite the treat! I thought I was sick of the overly-sexy signature bandage dresses but this collection was actually refreshing. Baseball caps and pants under every skirt; bondage style harnesses and fluffy fur hoods... I'm definitely coveting these sleek looks. Check out some of our favourite photos from the Jill Stuart Fall/Winter 2013 Runway presentation. It was a pretty mix of feminine tailored looks and full out girly florals (albeit, a fall-ish version with moody shades of pink and red).

nyfw saturday

So on our second day in New York, we were expecting to wake up to a few feet of snow left behind from the blizzard overnight. Luckily, Manhattan was ready for it & we were able to watch the snow removal process at the Lincoln Center and Columbus Circle from the Empire Hotel cameras.

We started the day by finishing up some articles about the shows from the day before. (The Nicole Miller & Charlotte Ronson Shows, which you can read more about on Chictopia by clicking on those links!)


I wasn't kidding about being close to the Lincoln Center; this was the view when we stepped out of the hotel. While the snow was mostly cleared from the sidewalks, the slush on the roads was quickly melting and every crosswalk was basically a river. I commend all the ladies at fashion week in their stilettos, because I definitely didn't have the will power to brave the conditions!

What I wore: a vintage fur coat, my diy balmain-inspired dress (tutorial here), burgundy and leather zane blazer by bb dakota, bamboo leggings by L&B, jeffrey campbell benetar booties, marc by marc jacobs werdie messenger bag.


We hopped over to our favourite burger place in the world: Shake Shack!


We saw David Duchovny there & enjoyed some shack stacks and cheese fries. So that was kinda awesome.


And then cabbed across town to see the Christian Siriano Show.

charlotte ronson fall/winter 2013

The Charlotte Ronson Presentation was busy. Like, crazy busy. For the past couple of fashion weeks, whenever there was a presentation at the "box", we could give ourselves time because it meant there was an entire hour (or two) when we could just waltz right in and snap some photos, and be on our merry ways. We waited in a massive line for almost a half hour to get in & when we left there was still a line!

Ronson was around and constantly in the centre of a large crowd being interviewed and her famous sis, Sam Ronson was DJing. nicole miller fall/winter 2013

If you've read much about nyfw, you've probably heard that the majority of shows really highlighted wearable collections. I found that a lot of the big trends were similar to those of the last FW shows, but reinvented. Menswear inspired, furs, leathers, cutouts etc... you know the deal. All of it was brought out in this show with a downtown cool and but with polished silhouettes. If you'd like to read our full article on the show, please check it out on Chictopia!
