vidal sassoon x chictopia : sam's style
Hey everyone.
Like Syl mentioned...life has been hectic for us and we've fallen behind on our blogging habits!
Chictopia shipped us a package of Vidal Sassoon Pro Series products and I was so excited I could have hugged the mail lady! I've tried a few of the products and I can truly say that I was very impressed.
I've had super long hair for the majority of my life with the exception of my high school days of super short hair! Nowadays I sport a side shave and have lacked a side of hair for the past FIVE years! My issue is that my hair suffers a lot of trauma from being tied up in ponytails and buns and caught in my hair ties. My favourite way to wear my hair is down but sometimes it just looks damaged from all the frizz unless I straighten it with a flat iron.
What I Wore:
Derek Cardigan 7005 Black Glasses, Motel Rocks Navy Blue Motorcycle Jacket, H&M Sheer Tank, Black Milk Clothing Bone Machine 2.0 Catsuit, Lulus Gold Studded Belt, Jeffrey Campbell Black Tick NS Booties.
My favourite product was Extreme Smooth Combing Crème. I tested out the combing creme after my shower and it felt amazing in my hair. I have the tendency to neglect my hair and let it get all tangled but when i combed this creme through my hair and let it air-dry - it was SO smooth and straight as if I used a flat iron!

vidal sassoon x chictopia : syl's style
Hi guys,
It's been a long while & I've been feeling that nagging feeling when you neglect your poor blog for too long. We didn't mean for this to happen but there have been some major changes & a bit of moving around so we've been busy as heck. I knew eventually I would have to come back though...
Our friends at Chictopia sent us a set of amazing Vidal Sassoon Pro Series products to try out. I was impressed that we received full sized samples because sometimes with hair products, it does take more than a one or two time use to really get a feel for how it works for your hair in the long run.
I've always had a deep attachment with my hair... while for some people this means they become attached to the length, I prefer to think I'm more attached to how it makes me feel. The girlishness of long hair, the boldness of shaved hair and the eff-you of colourfully dyed hair. I've never been one afraid of a big change; on a whim, I'll snip some off, bleach it out, or shave some off. And after growing it for nearly 3 years without a cut or colour, I'm feeling pretty happy with where it is (for now).
What I Wore: j crew factory brass plated crystal necklace, l&b tee, danier leather blink varsity jacket, nasty gal collection solitaire high waisted jeans, miista chloe shoes.
My favourite product & the one that I used in these photos was the Vidal Sassoon Boost & Lift Foaming Air Mousse. One of my problems with my current hair is the limpness. Because I don't currently have many layers, my hair tends to get flat on top and frizzy at the ends. The mousse worked great for giving my hair a lift at the roots and the ends of my curls were smooth. I simply styled with a curling wand and I'm proud to say I can curl my entire head of hair in about 10 minutes tops now!

254: die for diy contest winners
The moment I saw her, I knew. I JUST KNEW.
She stole my heart as a giant dynamite roll & rocking those jeffrey campbell nightwalks at the same time. Not just that though-- her nails were done in salmon & wasabi patterns. Be still our sushi-loving hearts!

blogger meetups!
So it's fun to have those friends on blogs that you can always rely on to comment on your posts, but it gets REALLY exciting when you get a chance to meet-up with a long-time virtual friend :)
Katrina, the girl behind The Demure Muse, has been on my radar for years now, as a fellow blogger, tweeter & etsian. We're not only mutual fans of each others work (check out Anirtak jewelry!), we also found out over time that we have a ton in common!
- We tweet, blog & sell our handmade stuff on etsy
- We're both nerdy girls who went to university for engineering (I dropped out, she's graduating this year)
- We have found that we have some mutual friends
- & We both have our septums pierced but we have them hidden (!!!)
She happened to be the lucky winner of our second L&B giveaway with this adorable picture getting an amazing 163 votes!
Katrina won a skull cut-out tee from us & suggested that instead of shipping it to her that we should meet up downtown! Our plan was basically to walk the typical strip along the route of the Eaton Centre & Queen Street and do a bit of Chinatown & Kensington Market. We managed to trek all over town chit-chatting so much as we went that we both forgot why our bags were so heavy. We were both carrying (and not using) our heavy-ass Canon Rebel DSLRS. such nerds. We did take just a couple of shots though-- although the one thing I wish that we had captured was when our waitress at the Pho restaurant served another table by lying across ours. I was too shocked to react. hahahah
syl & kat! (at this point, my hair had been biebered by the wind. oh god no.)

our trek around town was focused in the major shopping areas of town... but really the only thing we bought was lunch & then these waffle things. mmmmm.
ANYHOW, today was so fun & meeting Katrina was amazing. HI KATRINA!
I just gave her the skull cut-out tee in grey & a L&B recycled fabric tote bag & I really didn't expect her to bring me something.
But being such a sweetheart, I should have expected a little gift from her! Katrina had of course done a little bit of creeping on my Etsy Favourites & found that I had liked her Secret Love Letter Necklace so she brought one for me! :) ... the only thing I'm wondering is-- why didn't mine come with a sexy love note Kat?! HUH?! lol
