lars andersson spring/summer 2013

More updates from Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week c/o Chictopia... Here are some pics from the Lars Andersson Spring/Summer 2013 Runway presentation on Tuesday, September 11th, 2012 at the YARD at Soho Grand.

We were lucky enough to attend his show last season inside the Soho Grand. His collection was full of dark, drapey knits in a cool moody atmosphere. This season his show was presented on a grassy runway in the Yard. Staying true to his aesthetic, his knits were wonderfully draped and ready-to-wear-- they were just lighter in both weight and colour than his FW line.

Unfortunately, the lighting wasn't cooperating with my amateur camera wielding skills, so I only managed to get a few decent shots:

It was September 11th, so there were these beautiful light beams in the sky that could be seen from almost anywhere in the city.

announcing my engagement!

Depending on whether you follow us on other social networking sites, or if you know me in real life, this may be big news. I, Sylvia, am engaged to be married!

For most, this isn't breaking news. While I haven't been keeping it a secret per se, I have been avoiding mentioning the word "fiancé" or engagement to our audience since January. I have been posting photos without hiding my engagement ring, but I think it's been subtle enough that no one had caught on!

Only a couple of weeks ago, I started a new gig as a guest blogger for a local Wedding Invitations company called Precious Invitations and decided it was the right time to come out with it. If you're into that sorta thing, you can follow along with my posts at the Precious Invitations blog. Here are the first few posts and what I've covered (click on the photos to read the articles):

My introduction at the blog! I'm going for a personal approach in my writing, so I vaguely touch on when I'm getting married & talk about nail options ;)

Creepy Fiancée: Stages wedding photos of herself.
I teach you how to make a bridal fascinator. Easy peasy!

I did all the makeup at my BFF's wedding recently, so I show you my fave beauty products & what the heck they each do.

The anniversary of our best friends' wedding = the anniversary of our terrarium being a year old! I show you how to make some yourself

Please read along & comment if you're so inclined! I've got tons of wedding ideas & I can't wait to share them all with you. I'll try to post a digest every couple of weeks with what I've been writing about there, and hope that you guys enjoy my posts there as much as our fashion & nail stuff.

fashion week monday (part 2)

So we talked about what we did before lunch on our Monday in NYC here.
This is what we did afterwards:

The view from the rooftop patio of the Empire Hotel

Samantha and I had our first taste of a... promo lounge? a media lounge? I don't know... but it was called the "Daily Style Sessions" and we spotted Kristin Chenoweth and a Real Housewife while we were there. We missed Nicole Richie though. Most unfortunate news ever.

There were lots of product demos and lots of photographers.

Apparently I was dressed like the couches.

Then we traveled down to Chelsea to go to Highline Studios for the Marimekko Spring/Summer 2013 show

Later that day, we hopped over to the Rockefeller Center to go see Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
It was the most entertained I've ever been. I almost cried when Jimmy Fallon came out... yes, this is a confession of my undying love for him since his awkward SNL days.

Sam, the NBC peacock. *ding ding ding*

We finished the night with a phenom dinner at David Burke at Bloomingdales. Steak and truffled frites, salmon and tabouli, and creme brulee with dessert wine. NYC was good to us :)
