Hey everyone, how's it going?! This is my first blog post of 2012 so I thought that I would make it a enjoyable one :)
I hope the new year has been good to you so far! It's been a busy January for us but all is well!

On that note - just thought that I would share some photos of Jeffrey Campbells as well as my amazing new Black Milk Rainbow Galaxy Leggings!!

So I thought that I would mention that my beautiful Rainbow Galaxy Leggings are my second Black Milk item that I own. I'm on a roll, one item per year! Last January Syl and I posted a Outfit photos (I think it was our second one ever)

I was wearing the Black Milk Ribs Swimsuit but mine is in a deep navy. Not black...though it seems like black in the photo. I love this swimsuit.

tutorial - diy blanket poncho

Wanna learn how to turn a blanket into a cozy winter accessory without looking like you're wearing a snuggie outside? Check out our fun & easy tutorial this week on the Chictopia blog! or follow along below:

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- a large blanket
- scrap paper & pencil
- bowl and ruler (for tracing)
- fabric scissors
- sewing machine (optional)


[ GET ] – This is a ridiculous step, but it’s here anyway! Get yourself a blanket! Go buy a cute one or use one you already have— mine’s from Old Navy! An ideal size is about a 60 inch square.


[ DRAW PATTERN ] – Grab some scrap paper and create a stencil. The easiest thing to do is to use a round object (I used a bowl) and a ruler to make the cut-out shape. This will be the part that goes around your neck! The length of the cutout should be about half of the width of the blanket (so in my case, about 30 inches)


[ CUT PATTERN ] – Cut out your stencil.


[ FOLD ] – Fold the blanket in half lengthwise & place the stencil at the center on the folded blanket.


[ CUT FABRIC ] – Pin the pattern on if you want to be precise & then use sharp fabric scissors to cut out the shape. Make sure that you only cut ONE layer of the folded fabric… if you’re worried about making a mistake, pin the pattern on & unfold the blanket.

[ TOPSTITCH ] – This step is optional if the fabric you use is either a knit or a fleece— these fabrics don’t tend to fray when cut. But if you use a woven fabric, roll the hem and topstitch so that your edges stay neat!

Now wear out your blanket with pride & stay warm while looking hot!

tutorial - tape manicure

Hi guys!

Please excuse our lack of posts (especially tutorials) over the holidays! It's been a crazy busy time for us & it's definitely one time of year that we really take some time to spend with family & friends. We're hoping to get back on track now & I just wanted to share an easy manicure technique today! It's quite similar to our half moon manicure but you can try more variations with this method! Here's the look we're going for:



you'll need:
- base coat polish
- any colour nail polish (I used OPI louvre or louvre me not)
- a contrasting colour nail polish (I used Sally Hansen Lilac)
- quick dry top coat
- tape


Start with a coat of base coat & a couple coats of your main colour. Make sure that this coat is *completely* dry before continuing! seriously, be patient!

Grab a couple pieces of tape

Then take the two pieces and form a triangle shape at the base of your nail

and then paint a couple of thin coats onto the nail

Let it dry a bit & peel off the tape!

An alternate method is to use a single piece of tape (cut it with scissors to get a clean edge) and cover the base of the nail and paint the rest of the nail. Got it?

Ta-da!

Do the same to the rest of your nails & finish with your quick dry top coat!

the x-out project

We were recently contacted by Guthy-Renker to participate in a project! The makers of Proactiv have a new product called "X Out".

They've enlisted a handful of Fashion, Style and DIY bloggers to create a dress inspired by X Out. All the dresses will then be sold via eBay auction & all proceeds will be donated to Pacer’s National Bullying Prevention Center. We just received the package in the mail...

Since I personally have SUPER sensitive skin, I'll be trying out this product as a spot treatment :)




We were also provided our choice of a white American Apparel dress to reconstruct. Using the bottle & the company's manifesto as inspiration, we're gonna start giving that blank canvas a makeover! We have a week to complete it, so look forward to the final photos soon!

happy new year!

On January 1st of last year, we decided that our new years resolution was to write a blog post per day for the entire year. The point was to find our place in the blogosphere & really find what we loved to blog about. We started off documenting our personal style, then focused more on DIY & by the last couple of months, we mainly blogged about nails. By the end of the year, we made it to 277 posts, so we were only 88 short! haha.
