MBFW packing list

So in about 24 hours, we'll be in New York City c/o Chictopia for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week! We're going to primarily be posting on the Everybody is Ugly blog & we'll also be tweeting, instagramming & blogging about our own outfits here!

To start, we've been packing all day today! I'll spare us the shame & not show you a full shot of how our rooms really look-- the contents of our closets are on the floor & our bags are somehow still empty. gah!!

prepping for MBFW

So as most of you guys know, we're being sent to NYC this week c/o Chictopia & we're covering a bunch of shows as we attend them! We're going to primarily be posting on the Everybody is Ugly blog & we'll also be tweeting, instagramming & blogging about our own outfits here!

I was so beyond excited when I first found out that it's been hard to process my emotions! I flip flop between complete indifference (because the reality hasn't sunken in yet) and moments of complete panic when I realize the number of designers, models & celebs I'll be breathing the same air as! hahaha.

We just received our schedule of what shows we'll be going to & I wanted to show you guys so you know what you'll be getting updates about!

giveaway - baci chocolate + L&B (CLOSED)

Have you ever had a Baci Chocolate?



It's one of my favourite chocolates in the world! It's a traditional Italian treat that is made from gianduia chocolate (chocolate mixed with hazelnut creme) with chopped hazelnuts, a full hazelnut placed on top & dipped in rich dark chocolate. It's a chocolate that we all see every Christmas & Valentines day-- and for good reason! Baci means "kiss" in Italian & every single chocolate is wrapped with a special love note inside :)


I've had the pleasure of watching an Italian Master chocolatier make fresh Baci & I've been addicted ever since. There's a reason this recipe has been around for 90 years! I've been told that Baci was actually created by a chocolate maker, Giiovanni Buitoni & his wife Luisa Spagnoli, a fashion designer. Oh snap. Maybe we should start working on a chocolate recipe too! haha

tutorial - chocolate covered strawberry nails

So I was trying to think up a cute Valentine's Day themed nail for this monday & I really wanted to stay away from the pink+red+hearts obviousness... I ended up thinking about the food (particularly the candies & chocolates) of V-day & I figured I'd paint up my favourite romantic treat-- chocolate covered strawberries :)

Here's the look we're going for:



You'll need:
- base coat nail polish
- any red nail polish
- any bright green nail polish
- a chocolatey brown nail polish
- a white nail polish & striper brush
- quick dry top coat
- toothpick


Start with a base coat & a couple coats of red polish


Next, take your green polish and either use a tooth pick or striper brush to paint the "leaves". With a toothpick, I just dabbed about 4 or 5 points at the base of the nail to form the strawberry hat :)


The take your chocolatey brown & paint the tip of the nail. This doesn't have to be a super straight line, as real chocolate covered strawberries aren't perfect either!


Then take your white polish & a striper brush and make little seeds all over the red that is still showing.


& there you go! Valentines-y & kitschy without being too obvious of a reference to the day we all love to hate (or love to love?)!
