050: garage GLAMorous

Today at periwinkle:

fur stole made by me, zara floral cardigan, green chiffon shirt & harem pants from ub

fur & florals

a peek of the easter window display at periwinkle on bloor! nothing better to get you in the mood for spring than pastel coloured pom poms!

Alsoooo, today Sam picked up the Viva Glam "GAGA 2" lipstick & lipglass today!

I was SO excited to hear that Gaga was doing a second Viva Glam Campaign with MAC Cosmetics. For those that don't know, MAC has a line of lipsticks that are made entirely for a charitable cause. Every cent of the selling price of each lipstick & lipglass is donated to MAC aids fund. They often do celebrity endorsed campaigns that feature colours that are made in limited runs, which is why I missed out on the last gaga lipstick! :(
I was SOOO pumped that this one was going to be a nude colour too! I'm usually a heavy eye-makeup kinda gal, so I like peach & nude lip finishes. aaaaaand I'm so happy that the lipstick is in the amplified creme finish-- super moisturizing for a lipstick!

I'll finish this post with two (very different) awesome videos I watched today:

Do you guys remember the days when the release of a music video was a huuuge deal? Are any of you old enough for that? I remember the anticipation leading up to a new music release-- the days before digital downloads & youtube... we would actually have to wait by the tv or radio to hear the latest singles. (and record them on cassette tape or on vhs! ahaha)

049: spring thaw

Today was a glorious 9°C out! Anything above freezing is amaaaazing in february, so we definitely decided to wear out some dresses today. The sun melted a LOT of the snow banks & you can see the dead grass in our yard again! hooray! Unfortunately, it was SUPER windy outside so it wasn't exactly an ideal spring day... but it's gotten us excited for spring fashion :) I have a LOT of sewing to do. gahhh.

zenni optical precrip sunnies, vintage dress from my mom (she's gonna look for a pic of herself wearing this dress to show me :) ), bluenotes belts worn as a harness, h&m band leader denim jacket, jeffrey campbell litas in black ♥

I've been dying for a harness for forever... and my searches on ebay for one have been a little too S&M for me, hahaha. So I finally just 'constructed' one from two skinny leather belts. I really think it adds a lot of much-needed edge to the frilly dress :)

zenni optical precrip sunnies, h&m studded scarf, bluenotes basic black v-neck, american apparel convertible dress, xxi forever shoes, lipgloss and black polished cross ring.

what's weather like in your neck of the woods?!
It's a long weekend here (Family Day in Canada & I believe Presidents Day in the US), so hope everyone's got some awesome plans & lots to do! Happy Reading Week to all the university students too! :)

048: we're all born superstars

Today was our mom's birthday! Happy birthday mom!
We got her a couple gifts & we all went out for a family dinner tonight. Altogether a good birthday day I think! (we got her a bit tipsy hahah).

prescrip sunnies from zenni optical, ub leather jacket, blnts denim shirt, xxiforevz necklace (altered a bit by me), bamboo miniskirt by L&B, vintage sheer maxi, jeffrey campbell pixie wedges

this was one of my value village 50% off finds! I actually found a maxi skirt with a sheer chiffon overlay... and decided to cut out the skirt itself & leave the overlay :) I originally intended to wear the maxi OVER my mini skirt but I think I like the dramatic look of the mini over the maxi? I'll try out both.

do you guys see the grass starting to peek out?! It was a warm couple of days, so the spring thaw JUST started happening. I'm not sure that this is it for winter but I'm hopeful! I can already FEEL my dresses jumping out of my closet :)

Stitches Dress & Belt. Jeffrey Campbell Tick Wedges

Aldo & Ardene Ring

It's kinda funny, we sometimes end up dressing in complimentary outfits on some days... i guess if you are usually going to the same functions & have similar sense of style, it's bound to happen though :)

One more thing...

I got my Jeffrey Campbell Litas in the mail today. Originally, I wasn't THAT into these, but somehow after seeing tons & tons of outfits on blogs featuring these, I've fallen in love with the silhouette. The amazing thing is that even though they're 5 inches, they're ridiculously comfortable! The incline of your foot isn't too great & there's lots of ankle support! I haven't worn them out yet cause I'm still debating whether I should keep them or not (got issues with NOT being evergreen), but I'm falling in love with them real quick. What do you think? Love or hate Litas?

047: date day

Matt decided to take a day off of work today so we could have a full-day date (as a belated valentines thing). I don't really care for cut flowers and all the cheesey v-day stuff, so I was happy to just spend time playing tourists in Toronto today.

I had been begging Matt to get some new skates so we could do some skating, so we started our day at Nathan Phillips Square (in front of Toronto City Hall) and did a few hundred laps :)

It was so hilarious because there was a huge group of elementary school kids there who were ALL clearly just learning how to skate. There were spillz happening around us constantly and at any given moment, you could look at the ice & about a dozen kids were lying down. lol

Matt, snowplowing. he's good at skating. it's cute.
I'm okay. I didn't fall, so it was a success.

that's city hall behind matt!

After lunch at Fran's Diner, we walked to the Royal Ontario Museum. I'm a nerd & I love museums and galleries. It was my first time going since the renovations on the building-- the front was transformed into this craaaazy avant-garde crystal structure. Of course with insanely unique architecture there were a lot of haters, but I think it's so amazing.

The Michael Lee-Chin Crystal

can you find us in the reflection? haha

I took quite a few pics but here are some notable ones:

"earrings" worn by the ancient chinese in 1000 (or maybe 2000) BC!
THESE PEEPS WORE PLUGS, DUDES.

pickled newts or some jazz.

I legit took a million pictures of like every single geode, crystal & rock at the ROM. I knew I loved rocks, but I didn't know I loved them this much. It turned out somehow to be my favourite exhibit.

dem dinos. craaaazy.

& then we went home for dinner to have a beef stew that Matt had been slow-cooking for the whole day! HE'S TOO GOOD TO ME. So my delayed V-day was pretty awesome. I joked that we got to exercise both our bodies AND our brains today, which is probably why I am so exhausted. What kind of touristy things are there to do in your city? Have you been to Toronto?
