106: velvet litas

So I bought a pair of Jeffrey Campbell's Litas back in February. I've been wanting to wear them for for feels like FOREVER now! I STILL haven't worn them outside.
The weather has been rather nasty and I really want it to warm up and stop raining :(
I'm really afraid of getting caught in the rain while wearing them!

Does anyone have experience with wearing velvet shoes? Are they really difficult to maintain in good condition?

My blue distressed leather Litas are water damaged. The second day of wearing them...I walked into a massive puddle in the dark and they're forever water soaked. (this photo was taken the day before it happened) I was told that I could just take them to a leather...man and pay them to fix it. I decided to just leave them.

Is anyone else going through this?
Patiently waiting for Summer or Winter to wear certain shoes or items of clothing?
Always happens to me :(

  1. I wore my fav Jeffrey Campbell gladiators last week with navy opaque tights, I couldn't wait until it's warm enough for bare legs! So worth it.

  2. I can't imagine wearing velvet shoes, I too would be very worried about getting caught in the rain or getting splashed by a passing car or something. I have suede boots that I only wear occasionally and only when there is absolutely no rain in the forecast.

  3. Hey, I've been wanting to buy a pair of Jeffrey Campbells' (probably a wedge bootie like 99 tie or pixie) online and was wondering how the sizing runs? I usually wear an 8/8.5 but my feet are a bit wide so it varies a lot from brand to brand. Thanks ;)

  4. You can use waterproof spray on your shoes, it works pretty good. Just put a couple coats on, and let it sit to dry overnight.

  5. I love those shoes! I'm tall (5'9") so I can't really wear heels as much as I'd like to. I think I might make those an exception.

BTW, what kind of camera do you use for your blog?

  6. Hey Julia! That's so fantastic! Unfortunately it snowed on Sunday and the weather is still very unpredictable.

TheTsaritsa, yeah, it really worries me. I really don't want to get them wet at all. Suede isn't that bad when I use a lot of suede spray to protect them. I haven't had much problem with wearing suede boots this winter =)

Joanna, from personal experience: I wear size 5.5/6 and JCs size 6 fits me perfectly. I own a bunch of JC shoes and they're all 6s. Syl on the other hand is a size 7 and can only fit in size 8. I have read many mixed reviews in regards to JCs sizing on Solestruck.com. You should check it out! Syl loves her Pixies & I've heard good things about the 99 Ties from my friends. ;)

Shellie, I use a lot of suede spray on my boots and shoes but I'm a bit concerned about trying it on velvet. I haven't read anywhere that recommends it but then again I haven't put that much time and effort on researching velvet shoes quite yet.

Mi, yeah I love Litas because I am very short. You're lucky, you've been blessed with height. I love that I can get 5 inches out of them but secretly wish I could get 10 inches or more.
