- 1 carrot
- 1 red pepper
- 3 green onions
- handful of cilantro

cook dat meat & shred it up. you can replace it with shrimp or go meatless too :)

add some hoisin sauce so it's lightly coated for flavour

soak the vermicelli in a bowl of boiling water for 15 mins & then drain

while the vermicelli soaks, julienne the cucumber

grate the carrot

julienne the red pepper

slice some green onion

& chop some cilantro

toss all the veggies together

& toss in the noodles & chicken too!

Lemon Sesame Dressing:

088: best booth ...?

Lucky post number 88 this year!

Yesterday we received an email from The Clothing Show announcing the winners of the best booth contest. It was the strangest thing reading that email because it said that we had won second place for best booth at the Fall 2010 show. WHAT THE HECK. When Sam read the email out loud to me, we were both just so confused as to how we could have been in the top three! Look at our booth!

it was a rack, a sign & some tv dinner tables with fabric draped on them. ahahah

We didn't even force any of our friends to vote because we didn't even think we had a chance! I mean, check out the first place winner, Crywolf :

And the third place winner, Freedom Clothing Collective:

(the three photos above are stolen from Karen Carillo of Freedom Clothing Collective)

Like, Freedom brought FURNITURE! There were booths with such cool thingzzzz. Henkaa brought Ikea furniture that they actually built there! AND A TV. A REAL TELEVISIONNNN.

There is even a company that makes amazing shortbread cookies in flavours like raspberry or rosemary! And they give out free samples all day... There is a man there every year that just gives out FUDGE. Creamy, sweet, delicious fudge. And you guys voted for us?!?! Why?!? Because we decorated our booth like this?

hahah, we are sooooo grateful for the unexpected support! And now we've come to a dilemma because we were NOT going to set up a booth for the show this year... But the prize for 2nd best booth is a half priced booth. GAH. The show is a couple months away so we've gotta decide soon!

087: the leather man

Yes, the title of my post refers to that ridiiiiculous SNL skit "the leather man", where Jimmy Fallon is a leather-obsessed leather store owner. It also refers to my current obsession with leathers... I'm sure it's apparent when my usual outfits consist of my leather jacket, leather gloves & leather purse.

Sam & I went thrift shopping in a few local shops & we ended up with a huge haul of leather bottoms, which I'm so excited about! I was hoping to find lots so that I could refashion them kinda like I did to my leather skirt & put them into our shop to share with you guys :) It's been a while since we've had anything vintage in store & I hope that it's something our customers will still be interested in!

3 amazing pairs of uber high waist pleated leather pants

some suede & leather skirts in black & purples.
all high-waist pencil-ish style.

I'll be working hard on customizing all of these & hopefully we'll have some fresh new accessories made from the leather too :)

Also, Lady Gaga was #bornthisday! I saw this adorable vid of her singing born this way in a mariachi style on Gaga Daily. Check it out:

086: behind the scenes

Shooting with Carrie Jade this weekend was loads of fun.
& lemme tell you, she's a good hostess too! She baked cupcakes for us & prepped a candy platter too! amaaaazing.

i forgot to take behind the scenes shots until the shoot was basically over... so we ate most of the candies. haha

we ate most of the cherry chip cupcakes too!

easter smarties! so cute, carrie! ♥ thank you!

we brought the healthy shiz.
well, the dips aren't that healthy but hey.

my lil traincase

it's packed like sardines in dis bitch

our friend Rebecca let us borrow her studio lights for the shoot & gave us this AMAZING diagram to help us set up! so wonderful! :)

prepping sam-- pic taken by carrie jade's cellphone. haha

Carrie's a young photographer but from working with her in the past, I knew that she was bold and was good with giving models directions when they started falling flat. It was a good thing too because Sam & I are kinda dud models in the first place & we were so tired, I felt like my face kept defaulting to bitch-face every few minutes. gah. I have faith in Carrie though & I'm sure she caught us in some good moments :)

085: vegetable thins

sam tells us why she loves vegetable thin crackers...

cause they interlock!!!

Today we did a shoot with Carrie Jade & oh man, it was tiring being a model. We had an amazing time with her, as per usual! We'll post more pics & details later though.

084: earth hour

This past Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30, it was Earth Hour!

Sam & I turned out the lights & lit a bunch of candles...

and then surrounded them with about a million flammable nail polishes. haha

I'm not sure that I've participated formally in Earth Hour before... but yeah, Sam & I just talked & planned our photoshoot for an house & it was pretty nice being free from distractions for a bit. We spend so much time together but so much of it is us sitting at our respective computer screens.

What did you guys do? Did you participate in Earth Hour?

083: city and colour

So today I went downtown Toronto to see Mr. Dallas Green play a free show. I couldn't miss out, this man is my hero. In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Juno awards City and Colour was part of a line up including Shad and Hannah Georgas that played this free outdoor show.
This was the 7th time I've seen Dallas (not including the times I've seen Alexisonfire and that is way more than 7 times for sure) and I never get sick of him.
It was a pretty cold day, I'm pretty sure it was about -10 degrees celsius the windchill was about -20 degrees celsius. I was outside from 6:30pm - 10pm. Not good...but that is why I wore a tank top, long sleeve top, wool sweater, wool jacket, leggings, jeans, over the knee socks, 2 more pairs of socks, muk luks, mittens, scarf, & hat. No big deal. haha!
As cold as I was by the end of the night - I was colder when I went to see Our Lady Peace in -20 degree celsius weather. I was probably outside from 9pm-1am (I don't remember the exact amount)
But when you can't feel your toes or fingers and don't remember how to bend your knees...it's a terrible feeling.
I'm exhausted now and it's not only because I was trying to hold a camera above my head to take any photos at all...but also because this long day in the cold followed a day of shovelling the heavy heavy snow!
Well...since it's 2:30am - I'll get to the photos I snapped:

Peeking between heads

I love my height. Let's me look at so many hats. Sometimes I get other peoples staticy hair in my mouth too!

After the show. Notice all the losing Tim Hortons Roll up the Rim cups? I'm wearing a lot of clothing in this photo.

MMMMMMM

10pm dinnnnnnaaaaaa Pulled Pork Poutine!

The Exhibition: Princess Gates under construction

Here's a video I shot the last time I saw City and Colour in Toronto. Gord Downie of the Tragically Hip made a surprise appearance for the encore song (The Sleeping Sickness) and it was the greatest moment ever!

This is my most viewed video ever. Also, the first time I saw City and Colour live in 2007. I remember trying to get tickets to see him in 2005 but having plans fall through =(

Dallas & I in 2008 <3

Just curious...but do YOU love Dallas Green/City and Colour? ;)
