Hope everyone had a good (long) weekend!
ta da! the 'GAGA 2' lipstick!
I spent Sunday & Monday with my boyfriend in his hometown of Stratford. We visited with family, saw friends & went to a good ol' fashioned bowling birthday party... Which is always a good time because it's such a damn joke for everyone (except for the regulars at the alley with their own personalized shoes & balls!)
this is the walk of shame, basically. don't you hate sucking SO BAD at something? hahah
find my score... and laugh.
(fyi, the "sam" above is not THE SAM of "SYL&SAM". haha)
When I write posts about friends, I'm a bit hesitant to post photos of them without their permission. Everyone has different levels of privacy they like to maintain and just because I put myself out there so much, I know that I can't do that to others... I always think that when I take photos I should ask people if it's okay that I 'blog it' later, but most people already expect to see it all on facebook (though FB is very different from a blog in terms of privacy settings.)
This has me in a bit of a dilemma though, because I feel like this makes our posts a bit narcissistic... As it stands, we already write about ourselves & our clothes everyday. I don't know how much people actually want to read about us?! At the same time, we have to think about how much we want to share about our own lives too... What about you guys? What are your personal limits for blogging? How much do you share? What's too personal to blog about? Do you have a nom-de-plume? Do you have fake names for your real friends?
xoxo
I've been iffy on Gaga 2 because I've seen pictures of it looking a little too nude but I think you may have pushed me into buying it!
ReplyDeleteWhen I first got it, I put the lipstick on a bit heavy & Sam was wearing the lipglass... I said we both looked like victims of frostbite! ahahaha. So I can definitely see it being too nude on some skin tones.
ReplyDeleteI figure though, with viva glam being baaasically a charitable donation, even if the colour isn't perfect, you can always mix it with another lipstick ;)
I'd bet you could rock it ! xo
I don't use my friends' (or my boyfriends') full names on my blog. But, if they'd be happy for photos to be seen on Facebook, then I use them on my blog. I wouldn't blog about anything in my friends' private lives though, and I ask my boyfriend what he doesn't mind me blogging about him. I often forget to take photos of outings though!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I love bowling! Even though I am terrible at it...
i thought about using a nom de plume but i write about really generic topics anyway so i figured i could relatively put it all out there. anyone in my personal life that i blog about is referred to with a generic title (friend, sister, etc.) and then if any photos of the people get used, i generally ask if it's okay. same thing with facebook, too.
ReplyDeletealso, if you ever need any bowling tips, i got your back. i used to be on the team in high school :/
I agree about the privacy thing with names. I try not to put a lot of my family and friends in my blog.
ReplyDeletePS this is Brit from the now deceased Zhoozh Brand.
Sounds like it was one heck of a time at the bowling alley! At least you didn't slip on the lane... that's happened to me before. I just wasn't paying attention to where the line was. oops!
ReplyDeleteI hear you on the whole privacy & blogging front. I have yet to blog about anyone aside from other indie designers who have already put themselves out there for the world to know, so scratch the fake name front. I do feel like it's getting a little narcissistic given that I only blog photos about myself and rarely ever talk about things I do in my life outside of outfit photos and such. Hopefully we'll both find a middle ground soon!
super cute! i love bowling trips! so kitschy and fun!
ReplyDeletehaha looks like you had a lot of fun
ReplyDeleteMy friends all know that I blog, but if I want to use a photo of them I will ask.
ReplyDeleteAs for blogging and narcissism, they already go hand in hand. Just post what you want to post and forget about any haters :)
i like reading about you guys!! its nice to check you blog and see new entries every time.
ReplyDeleteso are you gonna post a tut on how you made your harness? i have tons of skinny belts lying around... please and thank you! :)
